The basics
- What does Flatlay Studio do?
- It generates catalogue-ready product photography from one reference image. Send a phone photo or a link, pick a photography style, and it returns four or five editorial frames on a model, plus a costed price and the product record.
- How much does it cost?
- Plans start at ₹299 a month and include the credits every action is priced in. A studio shoot for one garment usually costs thousands once a model, photographer, location and editing are paid for.
- How long does it take?
- A five shot set finishes in about thirty seconds.
- What are credits?
- Credits are the unit every action is priced in. A plan grants them monthly and top ups add more. A full set is 50 credits, a core set is 40, a colourway is 45 and reshooting a single image is 12. Your first reshoot of any product is free.
- Do the photographs use a real model?
- The images are generated. Each set is shot in one of twelve locations with a consistent model across every frame, so a set reads as one photoshoot.
- Can it price a product as well as photograph it?
- Yes. Enter what the garment costs you to make and it works out card fees and duty, applies a tier price band, and returns a retail price with a full breakdown.
- What is virtual try-on?
- A button on your own product pages. A shopper adds a photo of themselves and sees the piece on their own body, in about ten seconds. You paste one line into your theme and nothing else about your site changes.
- How much does a try-on cost?
- Ten credits, out of the same balance everything else uses. Growth covers 140 try-ons a month. You set a daily cap so a busy day cannot run away with a month of credits.
- What happens to a shopper's photo?
- It is used to make that one image and deleted within six hours. It is never shown to anyone else and never used to train anything.
- Does try-on work on Shopify?
- Yes. It is one script tag in your theme, and the button appears under Add to cart on every product page. It works the same way on WooCommerce or any other store.
- What kinds of clothing does it handle?
- Twenty built in categories including skirts, dresses, co-ord sets, trousers and kurta sets, and you can add your own category with its own price band.
Casting
- Is it the same model in every frame?
- Within a set, yes. Each frame after the first is generated against the one before it, and the identity is locked explicitly, so the model, the room and the light hold across the set.
- Will a plus size brief actually return a plus size body?
- Yes. The early version did not, which is why the body rule now sits last in the prompt, overrides every earlier line by name, describes geometry rather than adjectives, and ends with an exit test.
- Can I use a model of my own?
- Save one from a photograph you already have, or from a description. A casting portrait is generated so you can see her, and she is castable in every future set.
- Are real people photographed?
- No. The models are generated, which is why there is no booking, no release and no availability to work around.
The garment
- What do I need to send?
- One photograph of the piece. A flat lay, a phone shot on a hanger, or a shot on a person all work. The room in your photograph is discarded.
- Will the print and the embroidery survive?
- The cut, the colour, the print layout, the embroidery and the trims are carried from your reference. That preservation is the job; the model, the room and the light are what get generated.
- Does it handle sarees and lehengas?
- Ten ethnic categories carry their own silhouette rules rather than sharing a western one, which is what stops a saree becoming a gown with a scarf.
- Can I photograph a colourway I do not stock?
- Yes. Name the colour, or upload a photograph of the swatch when the exact value matters.
Using it
- What if one frame is wrong?
- Reshoot that frame alone with an instruction or a reference image. The rest of the set is untouched, and your first reshoot of any product is free.
- How many can I run at once?
- A batch takes up to forty references with one set of settings, and your plan sets how many run concurrently. Credits are checked for the whole batch up front so it cannot stop halfway.
- What happens if a generation fails?
- The credits are refunded to your ledger. The ledger is append only, debited before a generation runs and credited back when it does not.
- Can my team share an account?
- Invite them as seats with roles. Owner, admin and member; a member can generate without touching billing or keys.
Storefronts
- Which marketplaces are supported?
- Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, Ajio and Meesho, each at the exact ratio and ground it enforces, produced from the set you already generated.
- Why are crops padded rather than trimmed?
- Trimming a tall garment into a square takes the hem off a floor length kurta. Padding keeps the whole piece in frame and puts the difference into the ground.
- Do I need an app to add try-on?
- No. One line in your theme with your publishable key. The widget renders in a shadow root, so it neither inherits your styles nor leaks into them.
- Are generated images allowed on marketplaces?
- The photography is yours to use. Individual storefront policies on generated imagery differ and change, so check the one you are listing on.
